We have been going to the Santa Monica Farmer's for over twenty years. Ingredients for many a holiday meal have been bought there, and now, it has become a weekly tradition. We tend to never go with an idea of what we want to buy, just an outline of ideas of things we want to maybe cook this week, and the market never dissapoints, always piquing our interest. While spring/summer does dazzle with its array of tantalizing options, fall and winter have their own special pull. Check out the bounty and be as inspired as we are.

One simple tree producing so much! We never know if we are going to get apples from this beautiful tree in the courtyard of our house. Some years we get none, some a few and some like this year, baskets! One year we make pies....lots of pies....one year it was applesauce, and then we settled on fresh pressed apple juice that we can enjoy all year round. Nothing sweeter or more simple then a tall glass of nature's candy. We came, we saw, we ate....and ate...and ate. Lucques restaurant, in West Hollywood, California, has an annual end of summer rib fest that is a meat lovers dream. Missing from this picture, as we could not capture it all are the pork ribs and the lamb ribs plus a slew of other sides including collard greens and corn bread. The dessert was equally divine, cobbler with a buttermilk ice cream. Next summer be sure to book your tickets! |
